What is a facial?

A facial is a skin treatment for the face that includes steam, exfoliation, extractions, mask and/or include facial massage. A facial is designed to get rid of dead skin cells, help promote cellular renewal, hydrate and nourish the health of the facial skin.

Which facial is right for me?

Before any facial is performed, a questionnaire will be given to you to be filled out, which will help me find out about:  your skincare routine, any medications you’re taking, current products you use on your skin, any recent procedures (such as laser/peels/injectables) as well as any concerns you have regarding your skin. This will help me best determine what products and techniques to use during the treatment, tailored just for you. We will go through the questionnaire together once filled, and discuss which facial will be best suited to you.

Do you offer the same facials as other places?

No. All facials will differ from place to place. My facials are hands-on, as my preferred modality to work along the meridians, lymphatic nodes, and pressure points which help manipulate the skin and muscles, and well as drain away any built-up toxins under the skin. This being said, I do use ultrasonic, LED, and high-frequency machines, depending on the client’s individual skin needs.

Can I wear makeup after my facial treatment?

No. It is recommended to not wear any makeup for up to 36 hours after receiving any of the following:

• Basic facial
• Signature Luxury Glow Facial.

I also do not recommend wearing any makeup for up to 7 days after receiving micro-needling or a chemical peel at Amilia Jay.

When should I get micro-needling/ chemical peel done?

I always recommend micro-needling or a chemical peel with a 2 to 3 day downtime period available to you. It is best to not have any commitments/events/travel to attend, so your skin can have time to recover.

How long is the downtime after micro-needling?

It varies from 24-72 hours as each guest heals differently. It is recommended that no exercise, swimming, or being out in the sun 24 hours after micro-needling has been performed.

How long before any event should I get any facial treatment?

Non-invasive facial, at least 3 days prior to any event.

Any invasive facial treatment, at least 2-3 weeks in advance.

What skincare lines do you use during facials?

At Amilia Jay, our preferred line of skincare is Glymed, which is chemical grade skincare. We also carry a plant-based skincare line for our younger guests and offer Green Envee to our clients who may have sensitive/very sensitive skin.  

Do you offer facials for men?

Not at this stage, however, this may change in the future.

Is there anything I need to do before coming for a massage?

Yes, please kindly make sure you wear undergarments for the duration of the treatment.

Will I be fully covered during my massage?

During any of the massages you will be covered across the pelvic and bust area, at no point will you ever be fully naked.

Ambré NOIR FACE AND BODY OIL FAQs

What is a facial oil?

Face oils are considered a type of emollient, which means they help strengthen the outer layer of your skin, known as the stratum corneum. Facial oils will soften and seal the skin barrier, preventing water loss, and serve as an extra level of protection for your skin. Face oils target a myriad of skin concerns, primarily being hydration, anti-aging, acne, blemishes, and damage caused by the sun or free radicals.

Can men use the Ambré Noir oil?

Yes, Ambré Noir is a unisex oil and can be used on beards too.

Can Ambré Noir be used on the body?

Yes, it provides fantastic hydration and nourishes all areas of the body.

Does Ambré Noir contain any animal ingredients?

No, we do not use any animal products or any animal-derived products in Ambré Noir, and we are strongly against testing of any animals in our products.

Does Ambré Noir contain parabens, alcohol, perfumes, or artificial preservatives/colors?

No, Ambré Noir and the essential oil composition of Ambré Noir only contains plant/root/seeds/ nuts or kernel derived ingredients, which are certified vegan, kosher, ISO, organic, fair trade, AIA, and FDA approved.

I’m pregnant, can I use Ambré Noir?

Although we use the highest quality botanically derived oils, if you are pregnant or nursing, we do recommend you consult your healthcare practitioner first.

I have sensitive skin. Can I still use Ambré Noir?

Yes, however, we strongly recommend you do a patch test 24 hours prior to using the face oil.

I have a nut allergy. Can I use Ambré Noir?

No, as Ambré Noir does contain nut oil (Sweet Almond Oil)

Can I use Ambré Noir under makeup?

Yes, you can use it under makeup. Massage the oil into the skin and leave for 3-4 minutes to absorb before applying foundation. Alternatively, you can add 1-2 drops to your foundation and apply as you normally do.

Would it make my skin look greasy?

No, not unless you use more than you need to. No more than 2-4 drops are recommended for the whole face.

How often should I use it?

To get optimum results, it’s recommended to use Ambré Noir twice daily, as part of an AM and PM skincare routine, and after cleansing.

How should I apply it?

For best results, it is recommended to apply the oil with your hands, as the warmth from the fingers allows the oil to gently warm up and absorb into the skin.

You can however use the face oil with any facial roller, gua sha, T-bar.

I have oily skin, can I still use it?

Yes. Ambré Noir does help minimize the overproduction of sebum.

Is Ambré Noir suitable for children?

It's not recommended for young children under 14 yrs old.

How long is the shelf life of Ambré Noir?

We recommend you utilize the oil within 12 months of purchase and store it in a dark place out of direct sunlight.

Do you ship internationally?

We don’t ship internationally at this stage, however are working on getting Ambré Noir available to our international customers.
